But first you must meet our couple…

Handsome airline pilot, Taylor, meets the beautiful passenger and seatmate Megan as they both fly home from work, now que the delayed flight and there is no doubt this was more than happenstance. Hours, turned to days, months and years of dating. Leading to a family fun proposal. And with both having spent so many years with friends and family at and around Hood Canal before ever meeting, it only made sense to celebrate their unity in the area too. So selecting Alderbrook Resort seemed the perfect fit and New Year’s Eve was even better as they really wanted to make it a celebration.

For both, Megan and Taylor, a New Year’s Eve wedding means fireworks. But also being on Hood Canal means including a water setting.  So they choose to have the ceremony, accented only by red roses under a chandler lit tent, with clear sides, out next to the water so guests could enjoy the stunning views of the Olympic Mountains, followed by cocktails inside the wood beamed lobby of the ballroom.  As their guests moved into the ballroom for dinner they were greeted by a winter setting of white trees with hanging crystals, over 300 gold votive candles with accents of red flowers. And placed on the tables were jars of the couple’s favorite red candies to nibble on throughout the evening.  The long head table was draped in black with gold and red roses to accent the bridesmaids in gold sequence and groomsmen in black tuxes.

As the couple entered for their grand entrance they immediately moved to the dance floor and had their first dance that was choreographed in 3 lessons and was a huge success with spins and a dip at the end that was sealed with a kiss.  Dinner was a feast of the Pacific Northwest and the couple’s favorite wine from Horse Heaven Hills, WA, followed by dancing and time spent at the photo booth with some amazingly funny toasts by two of the groomsmen.

Just when the party should be over everyone was given noise makers and party hats to follow the new Mr. & Mrs. back out through the lighted path to the tent where the ceremony was held, but now newly transformed to a New Year’s Eve celebration of black, silver and gold along with an over the top couch for our bride to rest in.  The DJ kept the celebration going with music and dancing, and the resort moved out a full bar, pizza and dips to snack on as guests waited to ring in 2019 together.

Just before midnight everyone grabbed a blanket with the couples monogram, a glass of bubbly and gathered around the fire pit to keep warm as the fireworks were lit from the end of the dock as the happy couple kissed in the New Year under the fireworks.

We don’t highlight many of our real weddings, but this is a good example of how when you trust your wedding planner with all the details and allow someone like Blue Wings Events to select the perfect vendors and manage all the details, we can give you a day everyone will be talking about and writing about.  This event required us to have the venue remove their tent so we could install a new one with sides and a floor along with lighting through out the venue outside.

Now hear from our bride:

I was the person that thought I could easily handle a wedding on my own and if it wasn’t for my venue requiring day of wedding planner, I would have probably tried to do it on my own.
Seeing the end result, the most amazing day I could have ever asked for, I highly recommend everyone having a wedding planner and specifically Blue Wing Events. My husband and I are incredibly busy people, traveling weekly for our jobs and Angela and her staff made planning a wedding in 6 months a breeze.
We ended up going with full planning as the extent of the details we were looking for could have never been handled on our own with our crazy schedules. Angela and her staff were there along the way, making sure we stayed on schedule and meeting with us based on our schedules.
Our wedding was absolutely amazing and I wouldn’t have changed a thing. I had zero stress, day of, as the bride and that was all due in part to Angela and her staff. Our guests were absolutely amazed by the whole evening, being a bit more complex with a ceremony, reception and a NYE party after….Blue Wing Events took care of it all! Please trust Angela and her staff to make your wedding the day the best day of your lives!
